House Video #2: "Post-Belongings"

Caution!
If you experience motion sickness, such as in first person shooters, this video will provide the same loss of appetite, spacial depth perception, and pounding head ache. Apologies.

But here, hope this video gives an idea of our home. Not many of you will witness first hand, so enjoy.

House Video #1: "Pre-belongings"

The following link will take you to a Youtube page where you can watch a tour of our house before the moving truck was unloaded. We bored. And it was fun, ok. Shoutout to Caleb and Becca for the idea....woot!

Bad Boys, Bad Boys....Whatcha gonna do?

A few nights past, Hannah and I had a shocking and somewhat entertaining surprise in our front yard. While I was preparing for bed Hannah was in another room ironing, when all of a sudden I heard a loud "screech." For a moment I thought maybe Hannah had dropped the iron and let out a little squeal. No big deal. It was only seconds later Hannah had called for me to come look out the front window. I figured maybe there was a beautiful full moon. Shes really into those celestial moments. Nothing new, its fun. As I approached the window, strobes of blue were filling the room.

UFO?

Nah. We all know UFO's dont have blue lights but white. Ruled out.

But in fact, it was the whole cast of COPS in my front yard. Ok, not really. But there were three cop cars blocking the entrance into my driveway and one actually parked in my driveway.

So what did i do?

I hurried and disposed of all my drugs, and told my illegal immigrants to hide in the basement.

Just kidding. I dont do drugs, and as for my immigrant friends, I told them to escape out the back and run.

Just kidding, again.

No, but really. The cops thing was quite real. The kicker was not only was there a cop car in my driveway with his other buddies blocking the entryway, but there was an SUV, Ford Explorer to be exact, parked ON my front lawn. Now I'm not kidding.

And as I peered out the window, a male African-American man was being frisked against the back quarter of his vehicle. Ten minutes past, and the officer began to run his sobriety tests. That was the entertaining part. Not really because the man seemed quite intoxicated, but because the test he was issuing were very complex. To the point where a sober being would have a mess just listening to the instructions. Cuffed and convicted, they took him away, only to leave a car still sitting in my yard. Soon enough, a tow man came and rescued my lawn.

Through my intense audible abilities(also known as eaves-dropping) I was able to acquire the following:
The male had stopped in the middle of an intersection during a green light and proceeded to just sit there. Unfortunately(more like fortunately), a police car just happened to be driving along the same route. Flipping his lights on sparked some type of fight or flight mechanism in the intoxicated young mans judgement/situational assessment. He decided it was best to out run a cop, drunk. So he drove about a half mile down, turn into my driveway, hit a tree, and wound up in my front yard. Luckily, he just barely hit the tree. Any further left, no more than a foot and he would have totaled his car, and been left probably seriously injured.

Moral of the story, Green means Go.

Oh yea, I was also asked by one of the officers if I was Craig. I told him no. I guess, according to the inebriated individual Craig lives here.

Should have took a picture.

AC/DC....Does that stand for Air Conditioning/Disconnected?

So its been somewhat uncomfortable here the past couple days. Not like walking-into-a-gym-locker-room-full-with-far-too-many-nude-old-men-standing-around-talking-uncomfortable. More like sharing-the-back-seat-of-a-under-sized-compact-with-two-fully-grown-adolescent-male-friends-with-the-windows-up-uncomfortable.

Our AC went out.

Living in North Dakota it wouldnt be too big of a problem, considering the temperature recently is just barely staying in the 80's and the nights much cooler than that. But since our most recent move dropped us a few latitudes(or is it longitudes), the climate has altered. The humidity intensified. And the dependence upon artificial cooling bumped up a notch. We just spent a night with no AC, one fan, and for me personally, a whole lot of sweat. Hannah, maybe not so much. But with the temperatures in the 90's, and the nights feeling not much different, you start to feel a bit uncomfortable.

Admist all the sweat, sleepless nights, and cold showers, I can still say "The Lord gave, and the Lord taketh away." Praise be to God. Unfortunately, it took the AC giving out this time, for me to be thankful once again for the things I do have. Let us not forget the blessings we receive. For I fear the day when I fail to acknowledge the gifts of God and rather trade them for acts of ungracious self-doing. I pray no day will come.

As for Hannah and I, we arrived back home couple days past from our honeymoon. We spent 4 days at a brand new resort in Colonial Williamsburg(thanks mom, dad and RCI). Busch Gardens, historic land marks, and VA beach occupied our days. But I think what was most enjoyed was the relaxation we were able to have Husband and Wife. No packing, no moving, no driving, no nothing but time to talk, sit, watch food network, and just be with each other. It was fun. And needed. Its been a busy month and half.

But alas, we are home. And we can joyously say it is starting to feel like it. Home.

Be wise. Be thankful. Be ready.

Curdled Like Cheese

It is only appropriate to begin as follows;

Hey Yall!

With a many new changes arriving in the life of Hannah and Myself, we feel there is great importance in keeping past relationships alive and maturing. There are many of you who have played roles in the people/couple we have become. And there will be many of you who will continue to invest in our marriage as it matures.

Thank you.

The idea of this blog is to update. The Lord has great things in-store for us, we believe. And we want to draw you along side of us in prayer, support, and encouragement through these next few years of our life. I can not guarantee you this blog will continue until then. But we will continue, if the Lord wills, to update you with joys, sorrows, and praises. Some postings will be from Hannah, and others from myself. We do not want you to miss great things happening in our lives, and at the same time, we do not want to miss the things in the lives of our friends. So share with us, as we share with you.

As His providence and faithfulness rules over our lives every single day, it feels that these same attributes are most prominent with our current situation. Things are new for us. Very new. And it is His faithfulness that is sustaining us. So I leave you with these verses. A constant reminder of who we are, and who God is, in all his Power and Sovereignty.

Your hands fashioned and made me,
and now you have destroyed me all together.

Remember that you have made me like clay;
and will you return me to the dust.

Did you not pour me out like milk,
and curdle me like cheese?

You clothed me with skin and flesh,
and knit me together with bones and sinews.

You have granted me life and steadfast love,
and your care has preserved my spirit.
Job 10:8-12

In His Hands,
Scott and Hannah
